Mathieu Simoneau was born on December 16, 2000, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is of mixed heritage, with a Korean mother and a Canadian father. Growing up in a predominantly Asian neighborhood near Toronto's Chinatown, Simoneau was immersed in a diverse cultural environment from an early age. At 14, he moved to Indiana, USA, for high school, experiencing a different cultural landscape that broadened his perspectives. ​

Simoneau's foray into modeling was serendipitous. At 16, he was scouted at the Veld Music Festival in Toronto by an agent from WANT Management. Initially skeptical, he dismissed the opportunity, but after a second encounter with the agent the following day, he reconsidered and eventually signed with the agency. His runway debut came at 17, walking exclusively for Raf Simons' Calvin Klein Fall/Winter 2018 show, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career. 

Education and Career Development

After completing high school, Simoneau pursued higher education at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Business, studying there for two years. In 2021, he decided to take a hiatus from academics to focus on modeling full-time, relocating to New York City to immerse himself in the fashion industry. ​
